It took a long time. My “fake it” phase was at Digium. My “make it” phase was at NodeSource. I was evaluated for my skill there, not my proximity to people with skill. My SpaceX career was my own merit, after faking it and making it.

I set up a FreePBX server on a ThinkPad which is running ProxMox hyperviser. I connected one Digium D60 VOIP telephone to the PBX and was able to call outbound and call inbound (only on the same network, I still have to address NAT traversal issues)

Once every couple of weeks, I'll receive a spam e-mail from a reseller/seller of peripherals with the phrase: "We hear great things are happening over at Digium, and we want to be a part of it!" You *do* realize that Digium hasn't been a thing since 2018...? #updateyourlist
