In Python ArviZ, InferenceData is built on @xarray_dev. In ArviZ.jl, we built it on DimensionalData.jl, which has similar functionality. There's a new docs page on how to use InferenceData and its DimensionalData types. julia.arviz.org/stable/worki…

This seems unlikely to change soon. The last 2 JuliaCons have had meetings devoted to trying to find a way forward with no solutions. I picked DimensionalData because I'm tired of waiting and because it's the closest thing to xarray I've found in Julia.

Prob not LabelledArrays that labels elements. I think It's exactly down the lines of NamedDims.jl which does (very high performance) named dimensions and leaves everything else to composition. AxisArrays, DimensionalData, NamedArrays and a few others do dimension and index naming
