Une rencontre chaleureuse et fructueuse a eu lieu entre M. Luc, de l'organisation Congo Handicap, et le Dr Joseph Murray, président de la Fédération mondiale des sourds (FMS), en marge de la COSP19 au siège des Nations Unies à New York. Leurs échanges ont porté sur la formation en langue des signes, l'éducation inclusive, l'action humanitaire, la réponse à l'épidémie d'Ebola — en abordant spécifiquement les besoins de communication inclusive et accessible , les défis et opportunités à venir, le soutien institutionnel aux enfants malentendants ainsi que la participation des femmes et des jeunes sourds à la gouvernance. Les deux dirigeants se sont engagés à œuvrer ensemble pour promouvoir les droits des personnes sourdes et malentendantes en RDC. « Pour les vingt prochaines années, les personnes handicapées ne doivent pas se contenter d'être simplement consultées. Nous devons être aux commandes. Nous possédons l'expertise, l'expérience vécue et les organisations nécessaires pour ouvrir la voie. I don't who needs the hear this at @DirectRelief, but your radio commercial w/ Jane Lynch is god awful. From the opening, her screeching raspy "Hey there" is an immediate change the station. Then pretending like she's giving orders to people is laughable. Awful advertising

Aujourd'hui, 4 juin, marque la Journée mondiale des technologies d'assistance. Les utilisateurs de technologies d'assistance sont trop souvent invisibles dans la préparation aux catastrophes et la crise sanitaire. Cette situation a changé grâce à un financement de @UKinDRC @FCDOGovUK L'investissement dans le secteur de la santé et de l'action sociale et plus spécifiquement dans les technologies d'assistance au profit des personnes en situation de handicap constitue une priorité urgente en RDC. Cette nécessité est particulièrement critique pour les survivants d'Ebola, les ex-combattants handicapés, ainsi que pour les personnes blessées ou ayant subi des amputations en raison de la guerre ; environ 20 000 ex-combattants handicapés (dont 3 350 blessés de guerre) ont été identifiés dans l'est du pays comme ayant un besoin urgent d'assistance humanitaire. Congo Handicap lance un appel à la solidarité auprès du gouvernement — et plus particulièrement auprès du gouvernement @SuminwaJudith et @FCDOGovUK @statedeptspox @UNOCHA_DRC afin de soutenir son projet visant à répondre au besoin urgent de faciliter l'accès aux technologies d'assistance pour les survivants #d'Ebola, ainsi que pour les personnes blessées ou amputées du fait de la guerre. Ce soutien permettra aux survivants d’EBOLA , ex-combattants handicapés et aux blessés de guerre d'exercer leurs droits en matière de mobilité, de réadaptation fonctionnelle, d'accès aux technologies d'assistance, de soutien psychologique et d'opportunités de subsistance (y compris les activités génératrices de revenus).@DirectRelief @SecRubio @USEmbKinshasa @OMS_Afrique @OMSRDCONGO
