Jolt Youth Initiative (JYI), in partnership with
@JefratHealthHub , has officially launched the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) First Aid Training across 11 schools in Mpigi District!
Today, the training kick-started at Wamatovu Muslim Secondary School, where 30 vibrant and passionate students took part in this transformative program. The session focused on essential life-saving skills such as how to assess a casualty by checking the airway, breathing and circulation, performing CPR, offering first aid to a choking patient, managing asthmatic attacks, helping drowning victims, treating bleeding and nosebleeds, and providing care for fractures.
This hands on training is not only about equipping students with emergency response skills but also about nurturing leadership, teamwork, and a sense of responsibility. It inspires a spirit of service among young people, raising a new generation of School Health Champions ready to make their schools and communities safer.
Through this initiative, we aim to build a strong network of 330 youth First Aid Ambassadors across Mpigi District. The program is designed to motivate young people to explore careers in health and emergency care such as nursing, paramedicine, and community health work. It also strengthens collaboration between schools, local health facilities, the Red Cross, and community leaders working together to build a culture of care and preparedness. Most importantly, it enhances community trust in youth as active agents of safety, health, and development.
At Jolt Youth Initiative, we continue to Discover. Develop. Deploy youth potential to save a life.
