The ACCI Business Entrepreneurship Skills and Technology (BEST) Centre successfully continued the ongoing 3-day Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) training for staff of the Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority (
@officialNEPZA ) at Kariya Hotel, Keffi, Nasarawa State.
Building on the foundation established on the first day, the second day of the programme focused on strengthening participantsβ capacity to respond effectively to workplace emergencies through practical sessions on first aid and fire safety. The training combined classroom instruction with hands-on demonstrations, ensuring participants gained both theoretical knowledge and practical experience.
During the first aid session, participants were introduced to essential emergency response techniques and the importance of providing immediate assistance to injured persons before professional medical help arrives. Discussions highlighted the need for calm, timely, and appropriate action during emergencies to reduce the severity of injuries and improve outcomes.
The fire safety component emphasized the importance of fire prevention, early detection, and proper response procedures in the event of a fire outbreak. Participants were exposed to practical demonstrations on the use of firefighting equipment and emergency response measures, providing them with the confidence and skills required to handle fire-related incidents safely and effectively.
The day featured active participation from attendees, who engaged in practical exercises, demonstrations, and interactive discussions designed to reinforce key safety principles. The practical nature of the training enabled participants to relate the lessons directly to their workplace responsibilities and everyday activities.
As the programme progresses, participants continue to acquire valuable knowledge and practical skills that will contribute to safer working environments, reduce workplace risks, and promote a stronger culture of health, safety, and environmental responsibility across their various units.
