Each week we share a Monday briefing (thanks to @MrAllington ) with staff, designed to keep our SDP priorities high profile, purposeful and connected to CPD. This week’s briefing linked directly to last week’s twilight so that the messages remain clear and connected. The twilight focused on one of our SDP priorities: Bread & Butter, Oysters & Champagne (inspired by @Emma_Turner75 's blog: Curriculum is a knife and fork ). Our writing lead worked with staff to unpick the essential elements of the writing/grammar framework for each year group. Alongside this, we re-visited our Review & Respond (R&R) approach for our independent writing to ensure it is informing the next @janeconsidine unit of writing. #dolessbetter keeping our SDP's concise and high profile. SDP 1: Excited to be working with @OPAL_CIC later this year to develop our play at lunchtimes as well as their resilience and risk-taking. SDP 2: Influenced by the work of @Emma_Turner75, her analogies and 'The Curriculum is a Knife and Fork'. We'll be looking at the basic skills and the desirables of our curriculum offer with a focus on writing this year. SDP 3: A focus on vocabulary and reading using the work of @Suchmo83 and his book Primary Reading Simplified in Key Stage 2 . Finally got time to dive into the @CharteredColl 's Impact journal (with the all important coffee and cake) and loved the focus on adaptive teaching—so many rich links to the work we've done on @teacherhead's Rosenshine’s Principles in Action. Adaptive teaching goes hand in hand with Rosenshine’s approach: modelling, scaffolding, deliberate practice, and high expectations—all tailored to meet the needs of every learner. It really brought into focus how our teaching is becoming more responsive and purposeful, both in individual classrooms and through our bespoke whole-school SEND model. I don't know where we'd be without AI at our school. It saves us as leaders a lot of time, as well as the collective hours saved by our teachers who use it to make and adapt texts/quizzes/ questions, find images, create slides, refine letters... the list is endless. As with anything, practise and experience is key. The more you use it, the better your prompts become and the better it 'knows' you. #dolessbetter

A few years ago, we created our Monday Briefing Newsletter to cut down on email overload. 📩✨ It quickly became a detailed document —useful, but still too much information! Staff feedback was clear: we needed to do less better. We needed a way to streamline without losing key messages. That’s where this brilliant template from @MrAllington came in. Thank you! We adapted it to fit with how we work at Lingfield; messages are concise with links to key documents where necessary. Now, it’s our go-to way of keeping everyone informed as communication is key. 🧵 Some brilliant external feedback on our school today – celebrating strengths & considering next steps! Yesterday's visit from a Surrey School Improvement Advisor left us feeling incredibly proud. Their role? To quality-assure all aspects of provision in Surrey schools. They spent time with our Leadership Team discussing the quality of education, safeguarding, and leadership & management. It’s a short window to showcase everything, but we always aim to highlight the best of what we do. The key takeaways? Plenty to celebrate! 🎉 ✅ A strong, welcoming feel across the school – it's an authentic place ✅ Staff recruitment & retention is a strength ✅ Governance is a strength ✅ Our commitment to teaching & learning is clear ✅ Specialist SEND provision is innovative & highly effective ✅ Children show excellent manners & conduct ✅ Safeguarding practices are robust ✅ Leadership is well-planned, deliberate & purposeful ✅ Priorities are focused and build on previous work And the best compliment of all: "I'd happily send my own children here." 💙 But we’re always looking to improve. Here are the next steps we’re focusing on: 🔹 Agreed consistency – If we set an expectation (e.g., a bell for attention, stopping to listen), it must be used every time, in every class. 🔹 Marginal gains – Small, deliberate improvements that add up, such as thoughtfully designed classroom resources  and strategic classroom layouts to maximise impact. These areas align with what we’re already working on, and it’s great to have external validation of our direction.
