"Serious Bleeding in Pets: One More Tool You Should Know, Tourniquet #petfirstaid#dogfirstaid"

Science Accuracy Meter: 9/10 🩸
Stopping big-time bleeding fast can save your pet’s life.
For severe limb bleeding from a big artery, a tourniquet used briefly until you reach a vet is safer than letting your pet bleed out. The danger comes from leaving it on too long or using it when bleeding can be controlled with simple pressure and bandages.
- First choice: firm direct pressure bandage
- If that fails and blood is still pumping: tourniquet above the wound
- Use only on limbs, note the time applied, go to vet immediately
- Long use can damage the limb, so it’s an emergency bridge, not a fix
Financial Conflict of Interest Score: 0 — No evidence of financial or industry ties related to this basic emergency care advice.

I'm hoping that amongst our lovely supporters, someone could tag or direct us to a company that provides dog first aid training and another that offers microchip training.
Although we are a vet practice and our team has basic knowledge, it would be great for us to have trained the team further, especially at our Sanctuary, with an independent company that provides certificates for their achievements. ( and possibly a charitable rate)
Microchipping is vital for dogs, especially those coming into our care via fostering or medical grounds, and ensuring our team is fully trained will enhance our services.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
