A fresh data probe has exposed serious irregularities in Bihar’s voters’ list, raising grave concerns of large-scale disenfranchisement. Out of 65 lakh electors uploaded, more than 5,000 parts show mass deletions on the pretext of “absent voters.” For example: ➡️ In Gopalganj, Kamla Rai Mahavidyalaya, 457 voters were marked absent and deleted. ➡️ In Purnia, Madhya Vidalaya Pranpatti, 351 voters were removed as “absent.” ➡️ In Hajipur, Samudaik Bhawan Chauhatta, 330 voters were similarly deleted. Are all Biharis “absent” in the eyes of the Election Commission, BJP, and JD(U)? The probe further reveals: 1. 1,985 parts with abnormally high deletion rates. 2. ⁠663 parts with suspicious cases of “permanently shifted women.” 3. ⁠7,216 parts citing unusually high “deaths” as reasons for deletion.
