Turned on #XboxMode on my original ROG ALLY (@ASUS_ROG) — docked with no eGPU — and it completely fixed the disconnection issues I was having with #MarvelRivals and @Steam remote play.
Setup: ROG ALLY docked → streaming via Steam Remote Play from my Mac Mini M2 to play on the big screen, using an Xbox controller.
Before Xbox Mode it was pretty iffy with random disconnects. After simply rebooting into Xbox Mode, everything ran way smoother and more stable. Honestly the best I’ve ever gotten it to perform. @LinusTech video didn’t really touch on edge cases like this, but just enabling Xbox Mode turned my experience from frustrating to really solid.
Anyone else using weird setups with their Ally?

5090 via eGPU on existing hardware (Ubuntu is my pref). I'd stretch and get a blackwell card if you can swing it.

I also run Qwen 3.6. Curious which box and which Nvidia GPU? Sounded like a Mac Mini, but you didn't say eGPU.

Fds Forza Horizon 4 tava-me a dar um memory leak fodido com a eGPU, ao ponto de ocupar a RAM toda e todo o espaço alocado ao ficheiro pages e me rebentar com tudo o que estava a correr, nem conseguia desligar o PC lmao

PCIコネクタが無くなってるってことは基板の配線は残ってても PCI実装のために乗せてるコンデンサやプルダウン抵抗なんかも軒並みオミットされてるはずなんだよな。だからコネクタはんだづけしても多分認識はされない。なのでeGPUのほうに舵切ったほうが早い

I’ve got a cheap Chinese eGPU dock, used RTX3090 and decent PSU and plugged it into my laptop. Cheaper then building a full PC!
