これ、XMBを滑らかに動作させるためだけに、EmotionEngineとGraphicSynthesizer積んでたソニーが馬鹿すぎてロマンがあった 組み込みのテレビ画面の上にオーバーレイして、メニューを動作させるアホっぷりに感嘆する

でも、emotionengineは浮動小数点演算に特化してて、整数演算などは同世代のインテル製CPUより弱いので、OSやアプリを動かすためにインテル製のMMXPentiumも積んでると・・・

まりこさんが使ってたという、PS2のソフト開発用ワークステーションのスペック調べてみたけど・・・ PS2と同じemotionengineを積んでる関係で画像処理能力は同時期のWindowsPCより圧倒的に上らしいね、流石emotionengineだわ。

調べてみましたが、CPUがEmotionengineとMMXPentiumの混載って構成は面白いです。 当時のPCでは足らない浮動小数点演算能力を補って、なおかつゲームソフトをハードウェアでエミュレーションできるようにっていう設計でしょうか？ 外見もPS2に似てるってのは面白いですね。

ありましたね、プレステ2の輸出規制。 メインCPUのEmotionEngineとGPUにGraphicSynthesizer、当時のWindowsパソコンを遙かに凌駕する凄まじき高性能ゲーム機でしたからね。 一方プレステ3のCellは更なる高性能なのに特に規制もなく、米軍が大量発注して分散コンピューティングに使ってました。

PS2のEmotionEngineにしろ PS3のCell. BeにしろSony独自 ベンチマークでなくPC系にあるような ベンチマークで計測してたら どの程度のスコアだったんだ？
