American Airlines and Google have signed what the carrier is calling a record-breaking sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) agreement. The deal will unlock 35 million gallons (132 million liters) of SAF over three years, resulting in nearly 300,000 metric tons of CO2e emissions reductions. SAF is a lower-carbon alternative to conventional jet fuel that works in existing aircraft and engines without modification.
