He was a guy who let his freak flag fly, and I respected the hell out of that. There was a quote from one of shows where he said:
Never listen to what people tell you. Because if I listened to every person along the way who said, "Oliver Tree don't do this, Oliver Tree don't do that," there would be no Oliver Tree and we would not be here tonight!
I was told by so many people to go back to my old ways or to stay in a box. If I bent over backwards to please those people, I wouldn't be here as Bebop. His music genuinely taught me that life is hard, it'll break your heart, you'll lose people you'll care so much about, and following who you are will not always be the most popular thing or even be lonely.
But despite all that, know who you are. Know the kindness you can spread by being genuine to you. Hold on to the part of your soul that holds compassion and understanding for others in an everchanging world. I'm not a saint and I've certainly been a sinner from time to time. But everyday is a gift to hope and a shot to leave a meaningful impact in this one life we got. I'll miss you Oliver like the friends I've lost before, alive or gone. ❤️
He was the right kind of weird
Cared deeply about teaching people to love themselves. Staunch mental health advocate. Toured the world fighting against beauty standards $ tying self worth to them
A total goofball
Still torn up about it
RIP Oliver Tree
