⚠️ WARNING for NEW California Guard Card Applicants ⚠️
Scammers are targeting new applicants with ultra-cheap “5-Hour 100% Online $13.99–$19.99 Guard Card” courses.
These ads promise fast, cheap training — but they’re bait-and-switch scams that can leave you with an invalid certificate.
Here’s the truth from the California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS):
✅ The first Guard Card course must be 8 hours long
Includes:
Part 1:Powers to Arrest (online allowed)
Part 2: Appropriate Use of Force (must be in person)
✅ At least 50% of this training must be done in person
✅ Both courses must come from the same BSIS-approved provider
🚫 Why scammers do this:
They lure students with a cheap “online-only” course.
Later, you discover you still need in-person Appropriate Use of Force.
Students end up paying more money to find another provider — but BSIS clearly states they will not accept split certificates from two different providers.
That means you wasted your time and money, and may need to retake the entire course with a legitimate school.
👉 BSIS has already received numerous complaints about these fake schools and split-course tactics.
Don’t become the next victim.
