They root around looking for grubs and worms and leave behind shallow holes and trenches that can run 20–25 feet long. Loose soil and fresh, lush plots are basically an open invitation. Before you know it, seedlings are torn up, the soil’s a mess, and you’re looking at uneven growth—or worse, replanting the whole thing.
