Today is Michigan Water Day & World Water Day! We're revisiting in our #FilterFirst legislation that ensures the health & well-being of our youngest Michiganders by funding & requiring water filter systems in our schools & day care centers to #GetTheLeadOut & protect our kids.

Today, @GovWhitmer signed my bill into law, which is part of a package to require the installation of water filtration systems in all schools and child care centers. #FilterFirst
No amount of lead in water is safe for kids. This is a public health issue, an environmental issue, and an equity issue.
Michigan will be the first state in the nation to require this, setting the precedent as the Great Lakes state that every child have access to clean, safe drinking water in the places we send them everyday to learn, play, and grow.

.@unc when your lead testing is performative, but not health protective, you compound the harm, manufacturing both ignorance & false reassurance. How about following the science by moving to a #FilterFirst approach? World class, I think not.

Good work, Delaware, on the #FilterFirst approach to #LeadInWater in schools! Similar measures should be taken in homes, and esp. the homes of kids with elevated blood lead levels, even if standard water sampling shows no contamination. @MarkHDelaware delawareonline.com/story/newā¦
