Bridger Aerospace Group Holdings, Inc. has signed a $50 million purchase agreement to acquire two Canadair CL-215T amphibious aircraft from MAB Funding, LLC. This expansion boosts its Super Scooper fleet from six to eight aircraft, reinforcing its position as the world’s largest private operator of these purpose-built firefighting platforms.
CEO Sam Davis said the addition marks “an incredible step” for the company, noting that the aircraft will enhance Bridger’s ability to support government agencies, tackle increasingly severe wildfires, and safeguard communities and critical infrastructure. The new Super Scoopers are expected to enter service in 2026, with multiple contracts already pending.

ALT The Boeing CH-47D Type 1 Helitanker is equipped for night vision goggle (NVG) operations and flies with a crew of three. It can carry and deliver up to 3,000 gallons of water or retardant in varied conditions, significantly extending operational effectiveness beyond traditional daylight hours.
ALT Based at Fallbrook Airpark, the aircraft is supported by a dedicated CAL FIRE Exclusive-Use Manager who works closely with a Coulson crew of eight. This includes two pilots, one flight engineer, three mechanics, one fuel truck driver, and one driver for the mechanic/parts chase truck. All are committed to providing rapid aerial support for day and night operations and ready to put in the work even after the sun goes down.

A CAL FIRE C-130H airtanker is now positioned at Fresno Air Attack Base, increasing our initial attack capabilities in Central California. Dropping up to 4,000 gallons of retardant, the C130 plays a critical role in keeping wildfires small.
Since being assigned to Fresno on May 5, it has been to seven fires, dropping 30,500 gallons of retardant.
This strategic placement ensures rapid response when fire activity peaks.
