Dergelijke uitspraken komen (als het goed is, maar dat is het vaak niet) na afweging van meerdere feiten en omstandigheden.
Dat de VS afstand neemt van Oekraïne en Europa is inderdaad al maanden gaande en de Wever noemt het ook; de VS steunt de sancties niet langer, mede door de oorlog met Iran. Als er geen olie uit de Golf en niet uit Rusland komt loopt de wereldeconomie veel schade op. Trump krijgt dan de schuld. Daarnaast heeft de EU veel last van de oorlog in Oekraïne; wanneer die oorlog niet stopt staat België straks weer onder druk wegens Euroclear. De Wever is veel verstandiger dan Rutte, von der Leyen, Kallas, Jetten en vele anderen met alleen maar simplisme.
Het grote gevaar van deze periode is escalatie: eerst door het Westen (bv. no flyzone, schaduwvloot blokkeren, Oostzee afsluiten, lange afstandsraketten) en daarna door Rusland, eerst in Oekraïne, daarna in Europese landen, eerst op militaire doelen, daarna op logistiek, infrastructuur en industrie, eerst conventioneel, daarna met kernwapens.
Ons is jaren wijsgemaakt dat de Amerikaanse atoomparaplu Europa beschermt. Dat viel wel mee, want er was geen dreiging. Nu die dreiging snel toeneemt (de situatie is veel gevaarlijker dan tijdens de Koude Oorlog), is die afschrikwekkende paraplu weg.
Als Poetin een paar atoombommen gooit in Oekraïne wie doet er wat?
