NITI Aayog’s Aakanksha Special Initiative under the Aspirational Blocks Programme (ABP) conducted a Stakeholders Consultation Workshop on the Model Village Zemithang today at Zemithang (Tawang), Arunachal Pradesh.
The workshop marked a significant step toward shaping a coordinated development roadmap for this high-altitude frontier region, bringing together institutions and communities onto a common platform. The discussions focused on accelerating development in India’s border areas, with particular emphasis on the proposed Model Village at Zemithang.
The session was attended by Maj. Gen. K. Narayanan (Retd.), Programme Director, NITI Aayog; Ms. Namgyal Angmo, Deputy Commissioner (Tawang), HoD of line departments along with senior Army officers, and implementation partners. With the active participation of over 300 community members—including villagers, Gaon Buras, Panchayat leaders, and youth groups—the workshop facilitated comprehensive deliberations on connectivity, livelihoods, sustainable tourism, social services, and local aspirations.
The workshop underscores NITI Aayog’s strong commitment to frontier development, community-led planning, and improved service delivery in some of India’s most remote and strategically significant regions.
