The filled requests continue with a true classic: the Garden City Golf Club.
If you’re a golf architecture nerd, as I proudly admit to being, GCGC is pure joy. With almost no elevation change, no water and no outside views, the course relies entirely on its architecture for challenge and interest. Thanks to Devereux Emmet and Walter Travis, Garden City has both to spare.
And if you’re a golf history buff, GCGC has hosted a U.S. Open (1902), a Walker Cup (1924), four U.S. Amateurs (1900, 1908, 1913, 1936), and is the home of the Travis Invitational, a premier event on the annual mid-amateur circuit.
