SWAT Challenge 2026: Cameroon’s GPIGN Finishes Among the Last in Dubai
Cameroon’s National Gendarmerie Rapid Intervention Group (GPIGN) concluded its participation in the SWAT Challenge 2026 held in Dubai by ranking 103rd out of 109 teams.
During this international competition, which tests elite units from around the world, participants were put through exercises combining physical endurance, tactical accuracy, and operational coordination. The GPIGN completed all the events in 36 minutes, well behind the winning team, which finished the course in just 10 minutes.
Inspired by France’s elite intervention unit, the GIGN, the GPIGN serves as the special operations unit of the Cameroonian National Gendarmerie. It specializes in high-risk operations, including the fight against organized crime, terrorism, and hostage-taking.
