That's absolute tosh,
@kevinhollinrake. Conservatives used to trust individuals to make the right choices for themselves and their families. Now you're little more than big-state bureaucrats wrestling with a self imposed identity crisis.
This has got nothing to do with protecting children and everything to protecting the interests of the powerful by expanding the scope of digital IDs.
We should hijack the government's plan for digital ID to power a system of direct democracy - giving us, the people, a digital veto on every Bill Parliament passes and the final say on how our data and critically, how digital ID itself can be used.
In a system of direct democracy, citizens could have the power to:
- Veto any Act of Parliament ✅
- Trigger a
#GeneralElection ✅
- Block international treaties ✅
- Order a
#PublicInquiry ✅
- Decide how our data and
#DigitalID can be used ✅
- Challenge Supreme Court rulings ✅
- Have the final say on citizens’ rights ✅
Direct democracy is the ultimate protection against malevolent government.
