Together with Lynn Chancer and Michaela Soyer, I’m glad to share that we’re relaunching the Graduate Center PhD Program (Sociology) Criminology, Law & Society workshop for Spring 2026. Following our screening of The Alabama Solution—and the conversation with Alex Duran (the film is Academy Award–nominated)—we’re starting the semester with another powerful film connected to Tami Gold and Alex Vitale: 📽️ Film screening discussion: Sex Work: It’s Just a Job 🗓️ Tuesday, March 3 | 6:15 PM 📍 Sociology Lounge (6th floor), The Graduate Center (CUNY) 🍿 Refreshments will be served | Film runtime: ~1 hour The documentary follows an ensemble of people who work (or have worked) in the sex trades and the broader struggle to decriminalize sex work.
