It’s been 6 years since Marcus-David Peters was needlessly shot and killed by police. Marcus was unarmed, undressed and suffering a mental health crisis. Virginia still has yet to enact any measure to ensure people are safe from law enforcement when in crisis. #helpnotdeath

Happy 29th Birthday Marcus-David Peters💕. We LOVE & miss you dearly. Marcus was a young Black Biology Teacher who was murdered by a Richmond, VA police officer while he was unarmed, completely undressed & having his very first mental health crisis. Marcus deserved #HelpNotDeath.

This on a day that we should all be talking about Marcus-David Peters. He needed #HelpNotDeath. He and so many others that have been killed by police.
This #NationalLawEnforcemmentWeek, let’s honor the officers who lost their lives in the line of duty and restore trust between law enforcement and our communities by committing ourselves to true justice reform to keep every Virginian safe.

that isn’t unified statewide, & doesn’t ban LEO’s from using lethal force.

Virginia should take the lead from other cities that have stopped dispatching police to nonviolent incidents caused by someone experiencing mental illness, addiction, or homelessness.

What happened to Walter Wallace Jr is like what happened to Marcus-David Peters.
Both needed help.
Neither deserved death.
