When I was little I wanted a farm, I left school & fell into a hairdressing apprenticeship, losing all semblance of my dreams. Parts of my days now are #foraging, #growing, #homeeducating & building the life I want. The life lesson is, an extraordinary life can be humble. #garden

#AreYouListeningNow Did you know that the Children's Wellbeing & Schools Bill is not about wellbeing at all? It introduces intrusive, burdensome measures for #homeeducating families, with no meaningful support offered in return. All stick and no carrot! @HouseofLords2

I've been electively #homeeducating my 2 #autistic sons for about 5 years now due to lack of #SEN support/provision. It's the best job in the world where I get to spend my day with my favourite people, watching them learn & grow 😊

100% of the time? Year-round boarding schools? Weird. Thank goodness #HomeEducation is legal in the UK. Most #HomeEducating families I've met withdrew kids from school due to bullying or unmet special educational needs. Fix schools first, then kids might want to attend.
As we look to September, I want every public service that supports children to prioritise attendance. It's my ambition for children to be in school 100% of the time, which means everyone must play their role in tackling school absences. thetimes.co.uk/article/more-…

This! Exactly 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻I ended up #HomeEducating for 2 years b/c my son was so terrified of school & lack of #ReasonableAdjustments & my mental health was at a very low ebb from all the stress.

Some Truths about Education - A Thread My daughter is one of the 1.8 million pupils currently classed as persistently absent from school. She's not lazy. My daughter was one of the 1.4 million under-18s referred to mental health services in 2022. The trauma is real. 1/

With all my kids out in different places and me cracking through freelance work, I’m reminded of how important childcare solutions are for #homeeducating families. I could definitely do with more support around this myself and I think it’s important that we talk about it.

How do you know your workshops went down well with humans? 1. They randomly cuddle you mid teaching 2. Your still answering questions 30 minutes after the session ended 3. Everyone asks their questions at once 4. Kids and parents laugh, engage and learn together #homeeducating

Though, you did touch on something important: fining and jailing parents isn't going to make their children attend #school, if school is not suiting those children. We need to overhaul #attendance law and end these incentives, not threaten #HomeEducating families as well.

Not sure @AndrewSelous realises that the #HomeEducating community has had threats to our way of life every year for literally years now, consultations and bills and media slander every step of the way. We get more scrutiny and slander than almost any other minority group.

Something that is clear from the #PetitionsDebate: those who really want a register for #HomeEducating families also want #monitoring of progression along #school lines, totally missing what #HomeEducation is about, and showing that interference wouldn't end at registration.

Will we see a #fairdebate @NickFletcherMP Those pushing the agenda for a CNIS register continue to paint a picture of #homeeducating parents as #badparents yet we are #responsible parents making the #bestchoices for our children
We have scheduled a Westminster Hall debate on home education on Monday 27 March at 4.30pm. The debate will be opened by @NickFletcherMP. Two petitions calling for the Government not to introduce new requirements for home educated children received over 35,000 signatures.

I am #autistic & have 5 autistic children aged 10, 11, 24, 26 & 28. I've been #homeeducating my 10 & 11 year old SEN sons for 4 years now and it's still the best decision I've ever made. I get to spend everyday with my favourite people & help/watch them learn & grow ❤️

I've been #homeeducating my 10 & 11 yr old #autistic sons for 3 years now due to #bulling & lack of #SENsupport. It's one of the best decisions i've ever made. Not only do I get to spend time with 2 of my most favourite people, I get to watch them learn & grow in confidence ❤️
