Reflection for January 9, 2025
In a world programming us for fear,
Teaching us to feel less but compare more,
I want to talk about courage.
The courage to hope.
Yes, hope.
I know it's become almost a bad word.
But as a student of human history,
I've discovered something our ancestors knew.
Something technology can't compute,
Something algorithms can't value.
The profound truth about hope:
Its original meaning isn't passive waiting.
It means "to leap forward."
Think about that.
Our ancestors weren't naive.
They were naming the action that transforms us.
Every morning, we have a choice:
Program fear or program possibility.
Consume despair or create hope.
The algorithms want your anxiety.
The news feeds want your paralysis.
But your mind?
It's waiting for your instructions.
This isn't just ancient wisdom.
It's how our brains work.
Those first morning hours?
That's when we're most programmable.
That's when we choose:
Leap forward or fall back.
So today,
In the face of Canada's $62B deficit,
In the shadow of allies becoming threats,
In the noise of "everything's broken,"
In the chaos of "be realistic,"
Choose to program hope.
Not because it's easy.
But because it's how we're wired to transform.
To your leap forward,
Coach Che
