In Bucks County—one of Pennsylvania’s wealthiest counties—we witnessed another heartbreaking failure of human continuity this week.
The reported burning of veteran grave markers and flags at a Bristol Township cemetery is deeply painful. These symbols honor service and sacrifice, and the distress this causes veterans, families, and our community is real.
The individual involved, Troy Moore, has cycled through institutions, shelters, and untreated mental health and addiction challenges since childhood. This does not excuse the harm, but it highlights systemic gaps: revolving-door support, fear of judgment, and insufficient low-barrier care.
Ordinary human connection and consistent, compassionate systems prevent small crises from becoming public tragedies.
We need stronger hand-offs between shelters, hospitals, justice, and peer-led programs—spaces where people can regulate, relate, and route forward before things escalate.
Praying Troy is located safely and receives the help he needs. Praying our community responds with repair, not just outrage.
If you’re in re-entry, recovery, or Bucks County services and want to build better “three hands” support, let’s connect.
