“The shift in paddocks after just one application is amazing,” says Barclay, who grows Angus cattle, F1 Wagyu calves, sheep and a variety of crops across 5000ha, many fertilised with the liquid that drains from worm farms, mixed with kelp and humates. mnth.ly/dgHqO92

Sam, have you been playing with humates ?

Maybe the costs of regeneration of the soil using Humates and soil amendments which are not nitrogen or chemical related? Those costs should be calculated into the grant proposal! The us yet sly soil regeneration uses approx 250 lbs of Humate per acre (this depends on quality)!

Humates unlock what the soil already has to offer by activating beneficial microbes, releasing tied-up nutrients, promoting fine root growth and improving soil structure. Sometimes the answer isn't adding more, it's unlocking what's already there.

Still a work in progress, but the Agrimodis Hub will be available for all subscribers this year. The Research & Resources page is by far my favorite, and I'm always looking for topic suggestions for it. It's where publications are linked to provide users with a variety of resources and info on particular topics. Some of the current topics are: Soil and soil testing Fertilizer (general, specific, math, etc) Water quality Salt Index Phosphate types/reactions Non-nutritional inputs (humates/PGRs/etc) Mulders research Downloadable Excel files Reading List (book recs) Much more to come! If you have a particular topic in mind, send me a message or a response!

100#/ac max. Yes, brown coal (lignite) is a primary source of humates, but it is not technically a humate itself until processed. It acts as a rich, natural source of humic substances (humic and fulvic acids) that are extracted via alkaline treatment to create agricultural-grade humates. 📷YouTube  4 Key Details regarding Brown Coal and Humates: Definition: Humates are the salt forms of humic acid derived from materials like leonardite or brown coal. Source Material: High-quality brown coal/lignite is mined to produce commercial humates. Transformation: While raw brown coal contains these substances, it is often processed to increase the concentration of soluble humic acids. Agriculture Use: Brown coal-derived humates are used as soil conditioners to improve water retention, cation exchange capacity (CEC), and nutrient uptake.📷New Mexico Geological Society  6 In summary, brown coal is the raw material from which commercial humates are extracted, often described as a "humate-rich" resource.

The N:S balance makes sense, and the Mo. Humates also, for their plant growth benefits. Based on the products you are asking about, I am guessing organic certified. I would prefer a sulfur source that gets distributed more than concentrated pellets of sulfur. Possibly pelletized gypsum?

@Johnkempf Hey thanks John. Does it make sense to apply the nitrogen efficiency program to dry materials, like feather meal? Would you blend in tigersul 90, humates, Mo?

What a wide range of responses from a post about carbon confusion. Total carbon, organic carbon, inorganic carbon, water extractable organic carbon, organic matter, humates, humics , fulvics, sequestration, living carbon, carbon as mineralization fuel… whew. I’m just a dumb guy lookin’ to learn. Thanks for all of the info. I guess I’ll look into this Haney test. Do I go straight to the source with Haney’s lab (Regen, I think?), to Ward, or to Next Level? Maybe I’ll compare the 3. I’m still unsure about the CO2 burst test. Some instructions said use a soil knife and not a probe, and take soil temp so results aren’t affected by breaking open the soil. Is this outdated and that no longer makes any difference? extension.iastate.edu/news/n…

It can help some but it’s a small fraction in comparison to getting a plant to maximize photosynthesis, and dry humates is a more economical choice if really going after Weoc with that. Compost is better yet if you can get good quality material.
