It's now gone from giving a very broad notion to the agent and either vibe-coding or driving along to telling the agent everything up front. Both are drastic measures. I saw some successful coding agent users, from expert software engineers / product managers to the business ideators who do not really grasp / care about implementations. A lot of them are still spending long hours working with their agents, stuck to seats, fretting about agents going towards bizarre methods, yet are always astonished later on. Yes, terrible surprises, almost always. We want coding agents to be tech co-founders, not interns. They need to own it, look at solutions, and speak with you in a grown-up way. They need to chronicle all the decisions taken, how they were taken, and how things were aligned/implemented. Current frameworks / harnesses are missing a lot of functionalities still. They are learning day by day from your collaboration techniques and putting them into their recollections. But still, if you stick with the official harness and community-led plugins, you're using things everyone can get, and you're stuck being average. How would you rate your agent's performance?
