Tomorrow I have the honour of delivering the plenary lecture at 16th Interflam 2025, Royal Holloway, London.
I will be speaking about Wildfires and Safety at the Crossroads: Global Lessons and the Path Forward.
My talk will reflect on the recent destruction in Palisades, Los Angeles, and the growing wildfire threat to cities like London. I will discuss how fire science and fire engineering can guide us in understanding these hazards and in preparing for the next fire season.
From the physics of flame spread to the pressure on fire brigades, we must bring research, engineering, and stakeholders together if we are to protect lives, homes, and the environment.
Looking forward to seeing many of you tomorrow at Royal Holloway.
