@TheJSWGroup’s first passenger car will launch in India just before Diwali 2026, according to Parth Jindal, Director of MG Motor India, speaking to Shereen Bhan at Davos 2026. The manufacturing facility at Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar is progressing, with the general assembly line expected to be ready by June and the paint shop by October. Initial production will involve importing parts from China for local assembly, with deliveries starting around October.
The first model will be a plug-in hybrid “muscle car” aimed at establishing the JSW brand in the Indian market. It will be priced in the ₹15–30 lakh range. JSW plans 80% localisation from October, covering key components such as the battery pack, body-in-white steel, motor, seats, glass, and tyres. The company is also in advanced talks to localise battery cell technology, with a longer-term goal of becoming a fully local producer through global technology partnerships.
A second model is scheduled for launch in January 2027, positioned lower at ₹15–20 lakh. The rollout signals JSW’s entry into the passenger vehicle space, with a focus on hybrid technology, high localisation, and a phased expansion of its product portfolio over the next two years.
