Strengthening India–Japan Research Collaboration | LOTUS 2025
We are delighted to share that 30 collaborative research projects involving IIT Bombay faculty members have been selected under the LOTUS 2025 Programme, in partnership with 12 leading universities and research institutes in Japan. The collaborations span institutions
such as University of Tsukuba, Hokkaido University, Tohoku University, NIMS, Kumamoto University, Kobe University, AIST, Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST), RIKEN, Nagoya University, and the University of Tokyo, reflecting the growing depth of
India–Japan academic partnerships. The selected projects span diverse research areas and
will foster joint research, researcher mobility, and knowledge exchange between IIT Bombay
and Japanese partner institutions.
To mark this achievement, the Office of International Relations (OIR), IIT Bombay organized an informal get-together for the selected faculty members, providing an opportunity for the participants to interact and exchange ideas. We were also honoured to have representatives from the Consulate General of Japan in Mumbai to join the gathering and engage with the
researchers.
This initiative reflects IIT Bombay’s continued commitment to strengthening global research
collaborations and fostering deeper academic engagement with leading institutions in Japan.
The Office of International Relations looks forward to supporting these collaborations and further strengthening the long-standing academic partnership between India and Japan.
