Administrative efforts such as issuing over 53,000 CNICs to vulnerable communities, including brick kiln workers, are crucial steps toward formal recognition and access to rights. Identity documentation enables workers to access banking services, legal protections, and social welfare programs, reducing dependency on informal systems that often perpetuate exploitation and economic vulnerability in rural labour markets. #LabourRights #PunjabLabourCode2026 #WorkersRights #LabourReforms #MinimumWage #BrickKilnWorkers #EndingBondedLabour stratheia.com/selective-stor…

Claims suggesting hereditary bondage dating back to “1880” in Pakistan are historically inaccurate, as the state itself came into existence in 1947. Such narratives often distort context and overlook the real issue: intergenerational poverty and informal labour dependency. Policy responses must be grounded in facts, not dramatized timelines, to ensure meaningful and sustainable solutions for affected workers. #LabourRights #PunjabLabourCode2026 #WorkersRights #LabourReforms #MinimumWage #BrickKilnWorkers #EndingBondedLabour stratheia.com/selective-stor…

The Punjab Labour Code 2026 represents a significant step toward consolidating fragmented labour laws into a unified regulatory framework covering millions of workers. By strengthening enforcement, formalizing labour relations, and improving compliance mechanisms, it aims to reduce exploitation risks and enhance worker protections. Such structural reforms are essential for long-term labour rights improvement in Pakistan’s informal sectors. #LabourRights #PunjabLabourCode2026 #WorkersRights #LabourReforms #MinimumWage #BrickKilnWorkers #EndingBondedLabour stratheia.com/selective-stor…

Increasing the minimum wage to PKR 40,000 per month is a major policy intervention aimed at improving living standards for low-income workers, including those in brick kilns and informal industries. While implementation challenges remain, such wage adjustments reflect a broader commitment to labour welfare and economic inclusion through formal state mechanisms rather than external intervention narratives. #LabourRights #PunjabLabourCode2026 #WorkersRights #LabourReforms #MinimumWage #BrickKilnWorkers #EndingBondedLabour stratheia.com/selective-stor…

Western narratives often present Pakistan’s brick kiln labour issue through a highly selective and emotional lens, focusing on isolated “rescue” stories while ignoring broader structural realities. In truth, bonded labour is a socio-economic challenge tied to poverty and informal credit systems affecting multiple communities. Pakistan is addressing this through legal reforms, enforcement mechanisms, and wage improvements rather than externalized, sensational storytelling. #LabourRights #PunjabLabourCode2026 #WorkersRights #LabourReforms #MinimumWage #BrickKilnWorkers #EndingBondedLabour stratheia.com/selective-stor…
