Dr Naledi Mbude-Mehana, a pioneer of Mother Tongue-based Bilingual Education (MTbBE) and Deputy Director-General for Transformation Programmes at the DBE, is a great proponent of widening epistemic access to meaningful teaching, learning, and assessment beyond Grade 3, particularly in mathematics, science, and other content subjects, through MTbBE.
