This Remembrance Sunday
Today, I remember three brothers โ three friends โ who gave everything on the field of battle. Their faces stay with me, their laughter, their courage, and the bond we shared that can never be broken.
Cpl Liam Riley โ 01/02/2010
LCpl Graham Shaw โ 01/02/2010
Both Liam and Graham were taken from us on the same patrol in Afghanistan. An improvised explosive device claimed their lives in an instant โ a moment that changed so many of us forever.
Even now, when I close my eyes, I still see that fateful day. I still feel the dust in the air, hear the radio calls, and remember how everything shifted in a heartbeat. I carry them with me in every silence, every sunrise, every Remembrance Day.
Capt Martin Driver โ 15/03/2010
Martin died while trying to protect and support the Afghan people, working to clear improvised explosive devices so that others could walk safely. His courage was quiet but unwavering, and his dedication was beyond measure.
Today, I pay tribute to my friend Martin โ to his strength, his humour, and the steady presence he gave all of us. He led with heart, and he is remembered with honour.
They were soldiers.
They were heroes.
But most of all โ they were our friends.
Their names live on in the stories we share, the memories we treasure, and the love that doesnโt fade.
