There's great well-deserved buzz about "The Librarians", the doc that just premiered at Sundance. @LetUtahRead is sponsoring a free, private, pre-release screening of another anti-censorship doc., "Banned Together" on 2/13 at SLC Library. Register at: letutahread.org/events/banne…

"There’s never been a movie more vital this year than The Librarians. If you prize literature, intelligence, independent thought, safe spaces for children, it’s a necessary watch. Kim A. Snyder pours so much heart and respect for her subjects here. It’s a documentary that will make you angry, sad, and galvanized to do something. If anything, it will make you want to pick up a book and read." @letutahread thefilmmaven.substack.com/p/…

We can agree, disagree, and agree to disagree. We can't do any of this without a free exchange of ideas (and a little love & grace). Please push back against banning books. #utpol @UtahLibraries #BannedBooksWeek @LetUtahRead
UT has banned ANOTHER book by a female author: Damsel by Elana K. Arnold. And now t's not only illegal for schools to have it on the shelf, it's illegal for students to have such literary contraband on their person at school! Take action today at: letutahread.org/usbeban

Books like Damsel give our teens empathy, vocabulary, and awareness. It gives them language to understand things have could or have happened to them. If our teens put their phones down to read Damsel, we should commend them not punish them. @LetUtahRead

Replying to @LetUtahRead
Damsel is one of the most powerful books I've ever read. It's imaginative and extraordinary and beautiful.

Two Utah school districts dictating to a whole state what students can read. @LetUtahRead
Interesting reporting: "The Davis School District made 77 of the reports and the Washington County School District made 51. Together, the two districts account for 78.5% of all reports." [ but only 16 percent of students] kuer.org/education/2024-12-0…
