Was reflecting on Linamar: has it moved too much? While a consolidation is technically healthy at most points, still looks like it's trading near 3.5x year end EV/EBITDA which is basically the multiple they're paying for distressed assets.

I get the margin argument against Linamar buying something like Martinrea but it also seems odd when MRE's North American segment has 6.9% margins (not too far from LNR's) and LNR is buying distress in Europe (which is literally the drag on MRE) Multiple is below distressed buys

With the recent announcements from Honda about delaying development and production of EV’s in general, and particularly re scaling down production in Canada because Carney OK’d Chinese imports, I’ve got a feeling Asahi Kasei plant in Port Colborne may go the same route as Linamar - Honda was to be their major customer, and AK has recently announced significant delays in planned opening dates

Um...... Literally hundreds of Canadian companies make auto parts. Over 400 make OEM parts, giants like Magna, Linamar, and Martinrea and then there are hundreds more independent companies who make parts. Try a google search next time before you publicly embarrass yourself.

Contrast this with the federal/provincial funded Linamar EV Gigacasting factory built 1km down Canal Bank Rd. - it was built with $100’s of millions in grants and tax credits, completed just over a year ago, then put up for sale without ever going into production. No refunds, no jobs created, just taxpayers fleeced once again.
