CBA responds to key government consultation on the future of planning
The Council for British Archaeology has submitted our response to proposed reforms to the National Planning Policy Framework. While we welcome some of the changes, we have concerns about how archaeology and the historic environment may be affected.
Some proposals could shift decision-making processes, making it easier for developments to go ahead without fully considering the value of historic places, which could put important heritage at risk.

As a national amenity society, our Buildings Archaeology Casework team reviews thousands of planning applications each year, speaking up for the historic environment and advocating for sustainable reuse of historic places. This work helps ensure that the stories of people and places are considered as communities develop.
Your support helps us continue this vital advocacy. Please consider making a donation to support the Casework & Advocacy Team. 👉
