This is a defining moment for hearing health in live events. The Night Time Industries Association and the Listen For Life campaign are proud to see hearing protection formally recognised within The Purple Guide, placing it at the heart of industry best practice. For the first time, the initiative is embedded in core guidance, reinforcing that managing noise safely is not an afterthought, but a fundamental responsibility for organisers, crews and venues alike. This inclusion marks real progress, turning awareness into action, and ensuring that protecting hearing becomes standard across the night time economy and live events sector. We’ve long said that great sound should never cost a lifetime of damage. Now, the guidance is clear, and the industry is moving forward together. 🔊 Explore the chapter: thepurpleguide.co.uk #ListenForLife #NTIA #PurpleGuide #HearingHealth #SafeEvents #NightTimeEconomy

Nottingham has set a powerful precedent for the UK’s night-time and live music sectors. On World Hearing Day, Nottingham was announced as the country’s first Listen for Life City, with the launch held at Rock City — a symbolic moment for an industry built on sound. For those of us working across late-night hospitality, events and live entertainment, this is more than a headline. It’s a recognition that hearing conservation is fundamental to workforce wellbeing, long-term career sustainability, and the responsible growth of our sector. Protecting hearing does not mean compromising culture — it means safeguarding it for decades to come. MONDAY MOMENTUM As the mornings grow darker and nights draw in, the pace certainly doesn’t slow! Kicking off this week with a packed agenda — starting with a meeting alongside the Security Trade Associations to discuss the United for Public Trust initiative. From there, we connect with the brilliant minds behind NPA – No Phones Allowed, an initiative making real waves. A well-deserved (and slightly elongated!) lunch follows with our Public Affairs Team, before touching base with the Night Time Economy Summit leads — excitement is already building for February 2026! This afternoon brings updates with our Regional Ambassadors on events and plans, before a session with the NSSA initiative. We’ll wrap up the day with our Chair Sacha Lord, sharing some fantastic progress for our Listen for Life campaign — particularly around Government and HSE engagement. And to round off the evening — an incredible networking event at the Estonian Embassy, joined by the President of Estonia. Here’s to collaboration, innovation, and driving real change — even on the darkest Mondays! #PublicTrust #NightTimeEconomy #ListenForLife #Collaboration #Leadership #Networking

Another huge week for the night time economy! As the weeks fold into each other, the momentum continues to build. Over 30 trade bodies unified last week in a powerful show of strength — sending a clear message to Government that support for the sector is not optional. Major news incoming around the private security sector with transformative developments on the horizon in 2026, alongside ongoing pressure for HMRC tax parity. This morning we’re meeting with Scottish Ministers to continue work around VAWG (Violence Against Women and Girls), followed by a session with David Sinclair on new innovations. Later today, we catch up with Dr Charisse Beaumont on an exciting new project and the much-anticipated REMEL report, landing soon. Touching base with Jackie Clode-Dickens as we finalise plans for a collaborative event later this year. We’ll also meet with NTAI Scotland leads Mike Grieve & Gavin Stevenson to progress the Northern Lights Manifesto and Holyrood engagement plans. In London, I sit down with Jeremy Summers to continue key work on PRS & PPL, and we close the day with updates on Listen for Life — developing the campaign alongside HSE and metro mayors across Manchester, Birmingham & the London Assembly. We move forward — together. #NightTimeEconomy #NTIA #PrivateSecurity #TaxParity #VAWG #REMEL #ListenForLife #ScotlandManifesto #PRS #PPL #LiveMusic #NightlifeMatters #PublicSafety #CulturalEconomy

Starting the day with preparations for the Budget Announcement. There’s always a bit of unease on days like this as the Treasury keeps everything so close to their chest. Mid-morning, I’m meeting with London Assembly Members to discuss introducing a motion for the Listen for Life initiative—such an important step for mental well-being. After that, we’ll be talking about the Brooklyn Brewery’s inclusivity project, focusing on supporting LGBTQ spaces and creating safer, more welcoming environments for all. Then, the wait begins for the Chancellor’s Spring Statement at the House of Commons, followed by an influx of press anticipating a sector response. In the afternoon, I’ve got a meeting with NTIA Scotland Commission to talk through the ongoing implications of the budget. A quick catch-up with Bally Singh is next, before reviewing an exciting new initiative with Bye Bye Plastic and Camille Guitteau. A busy day, but always pushing for progress. #SpringStatement #BudgetDay #Inclusivity #Sustainability #ListenForLife #LGBTQ Support #NTIA #MentalHealthMatters #ByeByePlastic
