A fallen officer’s legacy now has a permanent place along the roadway where he made the ultimate sacrifice.
Representatives of the Indiana Fraternal Order of Police recently attended the dedication of the Sergeant William Gilbert Patterson Memorial Mile in Lake County.
Sgt. William Gilbert Patterson, a member of Lake County FOP Chris Anton Lodge #125, was killed in the line of duty in 1994 within that stretch of US 30. The dedication ceremony brought together law enforcement officers, family members, and community supporters to honor his service and sacrifice.
Among those in attendance was his son, retired Lake County Police Chief William Patterson, making the occasion especially meaningful for all who gathered to remember a hero who will never be forgotten.
