Community support and classic cars came together for a strong turnout at this year’s event. The Fraternal Order of Police Cherokee Lodge No. 4 held its 16th Annual Car Show at Fred Miller Park on May 9, awarding plaques to 37 vehicles, including a Top 25 selection. Event organizers noted strong participation from local entrants as well as participants from surrounding Lakeway Area counties. The first 25 entries received dash plaques and were entered into drawings for local gift cards, with additional support raised through a silent auction. A fallen officer’s legacy now has a permanent place along the roadway where he made the ultimate sacrifice. Representatives of the Indiana Fraternal Order of Police recently attended the dedication of the Sergeant William Gilbert Patterson Memorial Mile in Lake County. Sgt. William Gilbert Patterson, a member of Lake County FOP Chris Anton Lodge #125, was killed in the line of duty in 1994 within that stretch of US 30. The dedication ceremony brought together law enforcement officers, family members, and community supporters to honor his service and sacrifice. Among those in attendance was his son, retired Lake County Police Chief William Patterson, making the occasion especially meaningful for all who gathered to remember a hero who will never be forgotten.
