🗣 Let’s Talk Food Security
I don’t usually bring politics onto this page, as it’s a space dedicated to children’s health. But this time, I can’t stay silent.
What’s happening now will directly impact the food we eat in the UK – something I care deeply about.
Did you know that Britain used to produce up to 80% of the food we consume? Today, that number has dropped to 62%, and it’s set to go even lower.
Imagine this: if global supply chains were disrupted, the UK would have only days’ worth of food stockpiled, leaving us reliant on what little is left on shelves. In a world where unexpected events can ripple through markets overnight, this is more than a statistic – it’s a real risk to our families’ food security and quality.
British farmers work day in and day out, often under tough conditions, to keep our tables stocked with safe, quality food. But with recent policies, including the latest budget, the pressure on them has only increased, making it harder than ever to keep our food system resilient and secure.
If this concerns you, know you’re not alone. Organise, support British farmers and stand up for the future of the food on our plates. We’re all in this together.
