President Trump has threatened to have the federal government "take back" Washington, D.C. if a democratic socialist wins the upcoming mayoral race to replace outgoing Mayor Muriel Bowser.

Council member Janeese Lewis George, who represents Ward 4 and has built her campaign around affordability, housing, and public safety.
