✨What a blessing it was last week!✨
Crossing paths again with a very dear friend, connecting with heart-centered people, and much unexpected healing❤💚💙All reasons to be deeply grateful. All, thanks to the love, ‘medicine’, and wisdom that the people brought during our time together.
I arrived in Kansas feeling relaxed, yet somehow nervous.😅
But why?🤷🏻♀️Because I always dreamed of speaking at a conference about my experiential reflections rather than just my scientific findings… I guess I was too focused on hardcore science and forgot along the way that the one doing this work (ME) has lots of love, emotions (joy but also trauma), and wisdom to share.
I told myself, ‘Remember to be a storyteller and go with the flow, don't play the distant, scientific character you are portraying when talking in a conference.’
But little did I know how many intimate parts of my life journey I would share… or how emotional I would get hearing stories that resonated so deeply with me.... I am very happy that others also showed their vulnerability, and that we all created a safe space to be ourselves.
Thank you,
@NatGeo Society's Education and Community Engagement Division, for the opportunity to contribute to the 1st Principles in Practice: Community Engagement Symposium, organized at the
#HaskellIndianNationsUniversity. I am deeply grateful for the invitation to speak on ‘Co-Creating With Communities and Centering Local & Indigenous Knowledge,’ drawing on learnings from our NatGeo-funded project ‘Re-purposing
#Sargassum in the
#Caribbean.’
Also, gracias a tod@s who made this experience so lovely and healing! And to the best organizers Jonathan Walker, Brigid Miller, Arslan Ahmad, Chris Hoffman, Ph.D., Tyson Brown, Fay Gore, Cheryl Zook, Ph.D. Sarah Davidson and Nate Hall
