Last month I turned 31.
This month, BŪP® turns 5.
That's a lot of candles. And a lot of lessons.
Here's what I know now that I wish I'd known earlier:
1. It's not a race.
Entrepreneurship will make you feel like you're running out of time. You're not. The goal isn't to be the fastest — it's to outlast.
The businesses still standing in year 5, year 10, year 20 aren't always the ones that moved fastest. They're the ones that refused to quit.
2. Be careful who you take advice from.
Everyone has an opinion about your business. But before you let someone's words shape your decisions, ask yourself: have they done what you're trying to do?
Respect doesn't equal relevance. Choose mentors who can truly empathize with where you are — because they've actually been there.
3. Your personal brand is your business.
It's tempting to hide behind the product and let the features speak for themselves. But people don't do business with products.
They do business with people they know, like, and trust. Put your face out there. Tell your story. Be the reason someone says yes.
31 years of living. 5 years of building.
Still learning. Still going. 🖤
