Escape to the Country. Series 25, episode 15. Dorset A scruffy (sorry, it had to be said) Alistair Appleton meets Kerry who lives in Maidstone. Kerry's children have now left home and she wants to return to Dorset where her mum lives. She's only recently reconnected with her mum after many years apart. 😢 Aunty Angie, who also lives in Dorset, is helping Kerry on her search. Kerry has 375,000 to spend on a 2 bedroom village property with garden and office space as she wants to find a job where she can work from home. 🧐🙄 1. In the lovely village of Okeford Fitzpaine is this 17th century grade II listed white thatched cottage. The inside is full of charm and character. The kitchen/diner is newly fitted. There are the required 2 bedrooms upstairs. Outside is a patio and a secret garden leading to an orchard and a vegetable patch. It's bang on budget. 💥 Kerry loves it. 😍 She feels at home. She cries. A lot. 😭😢 2. In the market town of Shaftesbury, a few hundred yards from Gold Hill where the iconic Hovis advert was filmed, is this semi detached red brick Victorian cottage. The sitting room has the original black fireplace. The kitchen/diner is newly fitted. There are 2 quite small bedrooms upstairs. Outside is a patio, lawned garden and outbuilding. This too is bang on budget. 💥 Kerry isn't sure about the town location; she'd prefer a village. 🤷‍♂️☹️ Property 3 is the Mystery House in Mappowder, a pretty tree filled village .🌲🌳 When Kerry sees this pale stone coloured detached old schoolhouse, she bursts into tears at the beauty of it, including the view of the church at the rear. 💒 Inside is equally as beautiful and it brings more happy tears. 😊😭😢 There's a large living room, newly fitted kitchen, utility room, 2 bedrooms, one of which is decorated entirely in tartan wallpaper (McSecond-Bedroom).🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 🤣🤣 Outside in the walled garden you have an even more spectacular view of the church. There's also an extra parcel of land included. It's offers over 375,000 but it's been on the market for months. When she finally stops crying, 😭 Kerry says it's perfect, it's stunning, it's her dream. Over a nice cuppa, ☕ Kerry tells scruffy Alistair (get an iron and a comb man!) she will seriously consider putting in an offer on the Mystery House....................wait for it............wait .........when she's sold her house. 🙄😠🤬 But at least she's had a nice time visiting her mum and Aunty Angie at our expense. 🙄 I'd like to leave you on a cheery note, so here's a picture of the aforementioned Gold Hill in Shaftesbury and, for you younger readers who might not know what I'm on about, a picture of the Hovis lad. 😊😊 🍞🍞🍞

We have been on the South Dorset Hunt near Mappowder today with @Weymouthanimalr and DABS monitors. A beautiful fox was saved after being hunted through maize. Hounds scattered for miles as usual, totally out of control.

We heard several holloas from the other side of the wood and the hounds shot off on a line towards the road, then swung 90 degrees to pass through Mappowder Court towards Hardy Way. Here they seemed to lose the scent, but we overheard one red coat talking about “going to (3/10)

with very little road access. Eventually we caught up with them near Fox Allers Coppice, Stoke Wake. A few wandering hounds began rioting on deer but were called back by the huntsman. He then took a slow trot back towards Mappowder and cast hounds into Humber Wood. (2/10)

Just read a beautiful account of Jack Clemo’s ‘pilgrimage’ to Mappowder to meet Theodore Powys. Theodore dipped his bread and butter in his tea and when queried by a guest replied with a chuckle ‘ Jesus did that, didn’t he?’ I thought I couldn’t love him more
