Meet Amanda!
Amanda has been part of the Missouri Poison Center since 2009. As Community Outreach Coordinator, she works with schools, families, and communities across Missouri to support poison prevention through education, care, and connection.
This Women’s History Month, we’re proud to recognize the women behind the work who make prevention possible every day. 💛

Spring break often means children are home more, routines change, and sometimes families travel. All of that can increase the chance of poison exposures.
Pack medicines in their original containers and store them out of reach, whether you’re at home, in a hotel, or staying with family. When you arrive somewhere new, take a moment to look around and move possible poisons to higher places.
Wherever you are in the U.S., help is always within reach. Before you travel, download the Poison Help App from the Missouri Poison Center so trusted guidance is available anytime, anywhere.

🐾 Meet Our Poison Prevention Pawtner: Sammy!
Sammy is a lovable mixed-breed pup with a big presence and an even bigger personality. A genetic test revealed she’s part Anatolian Shepherd, German Shepherd, Great Pyrenees, Yellow Lab, and Boxer, so it’s no surprise she takes up a lot of space, especially when she stretches out on her back to relax.
Her name was chosen because it was cute and easy for the kids to say, and it fits her perfectly. According to her mom, Courtney, Sammy’s favorite thing to do is head out for a walk or run around the neighborhood, always ready for the next adventure. And if she could talk? Her first question would definitely be: “Got any snacks?!”
Sammy also has a hidden talent: she can open the door to the deck using her nose (as long as it’s unlocked). But what truly makes Courtney and her family smile is Sammy’s adorable expressions and her ability to turn even the simplest moments into something joyful.
Help us welcome Sammy as our newest Poison Prevention Pawtner, a gentle giant with a curious spirit and a heart full of love. 🐾💛
