I had the joy of meeting Ian Cummins in person — the visionary who launched Travel Massive ten years ago and sparked a global community that continues to shape the travel industry.
And then — as if the universe wanted to underline the moment — Richard Bangs was there too.
The Father of Adventure Travel.
One of my earliest mentors.
We filmed together for his PBS Quest for Adventure series and the Orbitz travel mini-series — from Bermuda to Puerto Rico and beyond. Richard was someone who said yes to me before I fully remembered how to say yes to myself. Seeing him again meant everything.
Travel Massive has been part of my journey since the beginning — through rebuilding, writing, filming, speaking, and growing into new chapters. The connections I’ve made through this community have led to collaborations, friendships, opportunities, and joy that I couldn’t have imagined back when I first picked up a camera again.
Deep gratitude to Lauren Goldenberg and Audrey Lo for the thoughtful, generous, and welcoming way they lead Travel Massive LA.
You create spaces where real conversations and real relationships happen — and Los Angeles is better because of it.
We gathered at Paloma in Venice — with my dear friend Amy (who I met during our Princess Cruises days!) — and it felt like past, present, and future all sitting at the same table.
I even signed copies of Brave-ish — surrounded by mentors, peers, and new friends who get it.
This is what travel community looks like:
🔹 Old friends becoming new inspiration
🔹 New connections becoming collaborators
🔹 Stories overlapping and evolving
🔹 People showing up for each other
Here’s to a decade of Travel Massive — and to every story, adventure, and friendship still to come. 🌍💛
