Second workshop at #MathsScholarsCPD: Symmetry in Art with Wanyun Vanessa Beaumont @Vanessa_Maths
Exploring maths through traditional Chinese paper cutting ✂️—reflection, rotation, circles & symmetry. Hands-on, creative & no art experience needed! 🎨🔢 #MathsInArt
We have been learning to tessellate 2D shapes. We noticed that only shapes with straight edges can tile together to create a tessellation 🔷🔺🟪🔻 #BowMaths#MathsinArt
To celebrate #MathsWeekScot Sam our Family Learning Assistant, has set some Family Learning Challenges based on this years theme "Beauty of Maths".
Maths is not just numbers and counting, it is all around us, so why not give these activities a try?
#Mathsinart#BeautyofMaths
P7 used the numbers in their times tables to create some art for @mathsweekscot. They drew straight lines and turned 90° to make the pattern. They then did a similar task using some coding on @scratch
Such an effective idea from @nrichmaths#mathsinart#numbersmakepatterns#art
S1 & S2 pupils enjoyed creating parabolic curves in Maths for @mathsweekscot . They were able to create really intricate curves using only straight lines! #MathsWeekScot#BeautyInMaths#MathsInArt
Year 5 have been looking at Mexican Art and using their mathematical knowledge to design folk art mirrors with radial symmetry and geometric shapes! Amazing! #Y5art#mexicanart#mathsinart
Today in Maths we looked at the artist Mondrian. We then made perimeter grid artworks based on his art. We calculated the perimeters of the quadrilateral shapes we drew! @HeadLHS @MrsGunnerLHS @MrsGossLHS@LHS_Watford#MathsInArt
#P5b are so pleased with how our geometrical, symmetrical deer sketches have turned out 🦌 Also, learning about points of reference in art 🖼 #mathsinart#symmetryart . Can you recognise which half is printed and which created by the children😁
Thank you to @LesQuennevaisSc DT dept for coming to the rescue with their band saw, helping us prepare for our year 7 Origami lesson tomorrow. Turning A4 into squares #crosscurricular#mathsinart
