Going to one-shot Next.js, Rspack, Federation support some time this week (after modernjs) Already did webpack version, with app router, if memory serves me correctly.

With an army of the brightest people I’ve ever worked with 😆 but first I’ll do my due diligence on the branch. Still need to release canary then implement this into modernjs v3.

This is actually pretty neat. We love tanstack but cannot pivot modernjs due to ByteDance economy of scale. But, you totally can swap out the router.

Modernjs passing e2e. But need refinement. I started on tanstack start when 5.1 was released but ran out of tokens and didn’t pick it up again. Will probably kickstart that again tomorrow

It’s the ai bundler! Treeshaking, rsbuild react router (with rsc and mf support too), rstest, and modernjs MF RSC - all was the bundler.

Took 20 agents straight 24 hours of continuous work to solve it. After that, /review took 10 hours to run. I literally had to add function level tracing through every single thing in the call stack. Every loader, plugin, hook, all of modernjs runtime and server, half of module federation ecosystem. Literally just moved the whole core repository into modernjs packages dir to solve it. Still need to go refactor several things. But it now works end to end afik

Most web projects at byte are modernjs. Even if we didn't want it anymore. It would take years to move to something else and we would have to build its replacement too. We like tanstack alot and id love to switch modernjs to using tanners router, but its virtually impossible because it would disrupt the busniess users. As long as bytedance has websites modernjs will likely have to exist and stay maintained
