Ask why he joined Google and not Nvidia at the time. Joining Nvidia would have made sense; Keras1 was amazing, the first to have a solid multiframework backend. Nvidia was platform company (didnt own any dl framework) so would have been a great match. I was at nvidia at the time and we really wanted him. (Not that i had anything to say about it)
