Today, we honour our Lived Experience Champions, people living with multiple long-term conditions (MLTCs)/Non-communicable Diseases (NCDs) who are not only managing their own health but also helping reimagine what better care should look like for everyone. Through the NIHR Global Health Research Centre for MLTCs, these community voices are: ➡️ Helping shape how research is designed ➡️ Defining what person-centered, respectful care should feel like ➡️ Strengthening trust between communities and the health system ➡️ Breaking stigma and challenging long-held myths and misconceptions ➡️ Keeping dignity, equity, and empathy at the core of healthcare Their leadership shifts us from assumptions to understanding. When people most affected by MLTCs/NCDs guide the work, research becomes more grounded, care becomes more inclusive, and health systems become more responsive to real needs. A diagnosis of multiple long-term conditions (MLTCs)/non-communicable diseases (NCDs) does not just add one more entry to a medical file, it changes how a person lives, feels, and plans their future.
